Did you know about the Kugelfischer einsprizpumpe four outlet v.? 🤔 Visit the Schroeter Diesel Technology Museum to uncover the mysteries of diesel technology. Check it out here: https://www.dieselfuelinjectionmuseum.com/ #Diesel #Technology #museum   The Kugelfischer injection pump was a mechanical fuel injection (MFI) system developed in the early 1960s. Originally derived from diesel pumps, it was designed for performance vehicles and became known for its manufacturer-customizable fuel delivery maps. These maps used rpm, throttle position, temperature, and barometric pressure as inputs, all controlled mechanically rather than electronically.

Key Moments in History:

- 1960s: Developed by FAG Kugelfischer, later taken over by Robert Bosch GmbH.

- Late 1960s - Early 1980s: Used in production vehicles from BMW, Ford UK, Lancia, and Peugeot.

- 1970-1975: Most famously used in BMW 2000tii, 2002tii, and 2002 Turbo.

- 1978-1981: Featured in the BMW M1 supercar.

- 1982: Continued as a specialty injection pump for race engines, including the Porsche 911 SC/RS.

- End of the 1980s: Phased out due to the rise of cheaper electronic engine management systems.

The Kugelfischer system was unique because it encoded fuel maps using irregularly shaped cams rather than digital programming. While it was highly effective, its high manufacturing cost led to its decline as electronic fuel injection became more widespread.
